Exogenous Semantics Approach to Enriching Logics
نویسندگان
چکیده
The exogenous semantics approach to enriching a logic consists in defining each model in the enrichment as a set of models in the original logic plus some relevant structure. We illustrate the approach by probabilizing classical propositional logic, including a novel global propositional logic. A model of the probability logic is a probability space where the outcomes are classical valuations. A model of the global propositional logic is simply a set of classical valuations. Syntactically, probabilities appear as constructors of new terms from classical formulas. Soundness and completeness results are proved for the calculi of both logics. A simple zero-knowledge protocol is used to illustrate the capabilities of the proposed probability logic.

Complete exogenous quantum propositional logic
After an overview of EQPL (exogenous quantum propositional logic), the proof of its weak completeness is outlined, using a non trivial extension of the Fagin-Halpern-Megiddo technique. A new logic (EQPL – exogenous quantum propositional logic), embodying all that is stated in the postulates of quantum physics, was proposed in [2, 3, 4] for modeling and reasoning about quantum systems. The logic...
متن کاملQuantum Institutions
The exogenous approach to enriching any given base logic for probabilistic and quantum reasoning is brought into the realm of institutions. The theory of institutions helps in capturing the precise relationships between the logics that are obtained, and, furthermore, helps in analyzing some of the key design decisions and opens the way to make the approach more useful and, at the same time, mor...
متن کاملSemantic Foundation for Preferential Description Logics
Description logics are a well-established family of knowledge representation formalisms in Artificial Intelligence. Enriching description logics with non-monotonic reasoning capabilities, especially preferential reasoning as developed by Lehmann and colleagues in the 90’s, would therefore constitute a natural extension of such KR formalisms. Nevertheless, there is at present no generally accept...

Modal logic is the foundation for a versatile and well-established class of knowledge representation formalisms in artificial intelligence. Nevertheless, there is at present no generally accep...
متن کاملExogenous Logics for Reasoning about Probabilistic Systems
We define exogenous logics for reasoning about probabilistic systems: a probabilistic state logic EPPL, and its fixpoint extension MEPL, which is enriched with operators from the modal μ-calculus. System states correspond to probability distributions over classical states and the system evolution is modeled by parametrized Kripke structures that capture both stochastic and non–deterministic tra...
